An internet casino is an online website that integrates the internet casino with a traditional casino gaming atmosphere. By utilizing a variety of different software, the internet casino is able to provide realistic casino games like blackjack, poker, craps, and roulette.
Any casino on the internet must submit the casino game software it plans to use through the government’s gaming regulations board for testing. What this means for internet gamblers is that all software games used by an internet casino will project the same odds and amount of fairness as with regular casino games found in Las Vegas or Atlantic City.
Generally, the internet casino can be categorized into three basic groups: download, JAVA, and HTML. The download internet casino tends to provide the most realistic graphics that usually include 3D visuals, sound, and animation. Downloading casino game software is free and means that the program will be on your computer’s hard drive.
A JAVA based internet casino does not require any downloading, and still provides many of the features as the downloadable internet casino. JAVA applets simply run through a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
Also not requiring any downloads is the HTML based internet casino. Although these types of casinos on the internet do not offer sound or animation options, you can play a variey of casino games almost instantly.
Whichever type of software an internet casino decides to use, you can bet that the server it operates from is located outside of the United States’ borders. However, most of the casinos operating on the internet are physically run from within the U.S. This is done for the simple fact while it is technically not illegal to operate an internet casino from the United States of America, legislation has been introduced to make gambling at an internet casino prohibited. If successful these laws would target the internet casino operators and not the persons gambling from home.
